Theoretical explanations

  • Video-clips with explanations of technical details

Practical exercises

  • Videos with step-by-step learning exercises and more.

Limitations

  • Corona-restrictions sadly had massive impact on the production of videos for the project.
  • **Everything had to be self-recorded without prior training in a very limited time - just a couple of hours were possible. Sometimes there was not even a chance to check, review and/or to repeat any recordings.
  • **From time to time we plan to update this padlet with newly produced media.

Basic Kata for kids

Kodomo-no-Kata

  • Starting in phase 0 but also practiced later, basic exercises are highly recommended
  • Some of them are included in KODOMO-NO-KATA, launched by French Judo Federation, IJF and Kodokan.

Children training Nage-no-Kata

Children checking our exercises

  • We asked two young students (13 and 14 years) to check and demonstrate some of the exercises we propose. Watch the results!

Kids using tools in training videos

  • The videoclips of children in training were produced by Sandra Hewson of Canada. We added them because they exemplify additional ideas for daily practice.

Kata@home

  • Judo is infinite! Be creative! Even at home you can work on your kata!

Judo basics: Theory

Footwork

  • Explanation of judo footwork for beginners, advanced judoka and coaches as an example how footwork can be explained

Tai-sabaki

  • General advices and explanation of functional posture and tai-sabaki

Tsugi-ashi

  • Explanation of Tsugi-ashi in Nage-no-Kata

Interaction Kuzushi/Tsukuri

  • Knowledge of the general structure of interaction in the phase of Kuzushi/Tsukuri is important background knowledge for teachers to guide the students through the learning process.
  • The principle of Uke/Tori interaction of each form in Nage-no-Kata will be explained by an introductory videoclip. The first clip provides the general pattern of Uke/Tori-interaction that is used in the detailed explanations.
